Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) boasts an 83 percent renewal rate from their existing client base on worldwide program management services totaling $100 billion for the past 20 years. ÒClient service is our highest priority," Tom O'Neill CEO of PB wrote in "Letter From The President" to PB's 7,900 employees at 250 offices in 82 countries. To remain focused on the clients'objectives, PB launched PB Aviation, in 96' and PB Power in 98', Òto provide the level of commitment and responsiveness they demand and deserve."PB Aviation expects to dominate in the construction and modernization of U.S. airports funded by the $40 billion, Aviation Investment Reform Act, dubbed Air 21.

PB Power consolidates PB's US Energy Services Company with UK's Merz and McLlelan and Kennedy & Donkin and New Zealand's, Design Power. The global organization for PB Power was structured to oversee operations in The Americas' under Bob Fishman, in Europe, Africa, and Asia under Dan Mazany, in Asia Pacific under Sean Purdic, and Australia, New Zealand under Martin Bird.

World Cogeneration spoke to Bob Fishman, President and Chairman of PB Power Americas. Dr. Fishman has a BS degree from The Naval Academy and a Ph. D. from the University of Maryland. He joined PB in 1984.

"PB Power is best known for technical innovation and achieving commercial success for our clients in power generation, transmission and distribution, and allied power projects. We offer comprehensive design, engineering and project management services from pre-feasibility to commissioning. Extensive financial and project development services and the full scope of electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, process, quality and environmental engineering skills further assure our ability to produce total solutions for today's power industry," Fishman told World Cogeneration for his Class of 2001 interview.

"PB Power's experience in power generation encompasses a wide range of fuel and plant types. We've engineered more than 75,000 MW of power at over 300 sites around the globe. We're also known for groundbreaking work in cogeneration and renewable resources, Fishman pointed out. When we take on plant rehabilitations, expansions and modernizations, the result are safer, more reliable plants with greater efficiencies and reduced operating costs."

"Many of our projects have been developed as new facilities, but a majority have entailed integration with existing installations requiring modifications and additions. Retrofit projects require a special understanding of facility needs and detailed planning and coordination to minimize operational disruptions during construction. Our staff has extensive experience with systems integration at conventional and specialized installations including hospitals, computer and communications centers, and manufacturing facilities. Our experience on work at these sensitive specialized facilities has given our firm a specialized niche in the high reliability power arena. We are proud of our track record for on-line performance at these installations due in no small part to proven design practices and carefully engineered system redundancies," Fishman continued.

It should also be noted that PB Power is certified worldwide under ISO, 9001.

"Design of gas turbine peaker, cogeneration, and combined-cycle power plants is an area in which we have considerable expertise. We have experience with gas turbines (and with all the manufacturers) ranging in size from 3 to 250 MW, on projects up to 1,800 MW. We have provided engineering services on many projects utilizing selective catalytic reduction (SCR), and even one with SCONOx," Fishman concluded.
